Transporting your pet to the Surgery

Many pets are anxious on their visits to the Veterinary Surgeon. Whilst with us we will try to keep them as comfortable as possible. You can help by ensuring your pet is carried securely. Dogs should be on a lead and cats in Cat Carriers or baskets. Leads and boxes are available for purchase or loan from the reception areas. Small furries, birds, reptiles etc should be caged or carried appropriately for safety and comfort.

Some people may find it difficult to organise transport to the Surgery. Reception will be pleased to offer advice on local taxi companies that may be able to be helpful for you. Soon we will have a dedicated ambulance service available to collect people who have difficulty arranging their own transport

Home Visits

Requests for home visits should usually be made before 10am and preferably the day before the requested visit. We can usually accommodate most of such requests although it should be remembered that the facilities at the surgeries enable a more comprehensive investigation and treatment regime than can usually be given at home. A charge is made for domiciliary calls.

Fees and Terms of Business

Payment is expected at the time of any consultation or house visit and when you collect your animal after any operative procedure or in-patient stay with us. Do not be worried about the cost of Veterinary treatment. A simple enquiry will allow one of our Veterinary Surgeons to give you a printed estimate of any treatment that may be required together with appropriate explanation. Whatever your financial means we will always take appropriate action to relieve suffering in any emergency situation. If need be we may then be able to refer you to a charitable centre for further investigations or possibly obtain funding to help us to continue the treatment of you precious pet.

We accept payment by cash, cheque, postal order, VISA, MasterCard, SWITCH and other credit cards.

Admissions

Any animal being hospitalised, either for inpatient care or operations will be looked after to the best of our ability and made to feel as comfortable as possible. Prior to admission you will be asked to sign a detailed consent form giving us permission to carry out the procedures required, which we will have discussed in some depth with you together with giving you an estimated cost. Any questions you may have will be answered at this time.

For operative procedures it is usual for you to leave your pet with us between 8.15 and 9.30 am on the day of treatment although special arrangements may be made outside of this time slot for those who find this time difficult through family or work commitments. Prior to admission explanatory notes will be provided, either personally or by post, to detail whether your pet needs to be starved the night before etc.

In the case of day-patients we usually ask you to telephone in the early afternoon to inquire re progress and are usually able at that time to allot you a discharge appointment later in the day or evening to collect your pet at which time details of the procedures carried out, aftercare and revisits will be discussed.

Inpatient progress is discussed with you by telephone, in detail, on a daily basis by the Vet or Nurse assigned to you particular pet. They will also update you with your account status. Any further treatments other than those which you have already agreed to will only be carried out after discussing them with you in depth.

Nurses Clinics

The Nurses also provide physiotherapy sessions for animals with orthopaedic or neurological problems or conditions having long convalescence periods.
